I attended a vocational-technical high school, where I studied automotive technology. I attended this show as part of a school trip.

We were given donuts and coffee, then sat down for a few presentations from hot-rod industry professionals. After that, we were free to roam about the show floor.

The show was held on a racetrack. The view I had here was from what I assume was the announcers' box.

The cars, medium (film photography), and even the new-retro inspired Pepsi logo all are a throwback to things that happened before my time. Just don't look too hard at the trucks in the back. Or the Xfinity logo...

Trap Pond State Park

I saw this adorable family of turtles while kayaking through Trap Pond State Park, in Delaware. This was one of my stops on a solo two-day road trip I took during a three-day weekend in May. It was pretty fun! I even slept in my car to save money.

You might be noticing a pattern of May 2025 trips. I'd been busy at the Honda dealership I worked at, taking advanced classes in school, and I was gearing up for a national Automotive Service Technology competition in Atlanta early in the summer. Needless to say, I needed a break!

The subject of this image is my beloved Honda Element. It is over 22 years, and it is pretty beat up. I bought it for $1500 from someone who lived around the block from me. It's with family now, I couldn't justify keeping it now that I'm in Philly. I can just walk or bike everywhere I really need to be.

The Element was a great travel companion. 10/10, would buy another (in better condition with a bit less rust).

Longwood Gardens

I took this photo during my second trip to Longwood Gardens in the month of July. I've been going to Longwood all my life. My first visit was in 2007, when I was only a few months old. The photo that won me my RMSP honorable mention was taken there. This night time shot was especially fun to get, it took an exposure that was at least a couple seconds long (quite the challenge for a new film shooter).

The deep blue coloration of the clouds reminds me of the works of Maxfield Parrish.

I took this photo while visiting Philadelphia with a friend who's also going to school in the city. I wanted to try to get a waist level shot of someone in motion, and I think I did a good job of it here. Of course, the AE-1 has no waist level viewfinder, and lacks a flip-out screen or autofocus to make this task easier.
